European Business Awards for the Environment 2012

The winners of the 2012 European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) were announced during a prestigious award ceremony held in Brussels on 24 May 2012.
The ceremony – which took place in theRoyal Museum of Art and History, Brussels – recognised five pioneering companies that have successfully combined innovation, competitiveness and outstanding environmental performance.
The winners of the 2012 EBAE are:
- Management Award – Marks and Spencer (UK)
- Product Award – Aquamarine Power (UK)
- Process Award – Umicore (Belgium)
- International Business Cooperation Award – INENSUS GmbH (Germany)
- Business and Biodiversity Award – Slovenské elektrárne, a.s. (Slovakia)
Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman congratulated both the UK winners:
"I would like to congratulate Aquamarine Power and Marks and Spencer on their success. Once again this shows that UK businesses are at the forefront of green technology and sustainable business practices. As we move towards a green economy there are great opportunities for businesses to find new solutions to create clean energy and use natural resources more efficiently - opportunities that Aquamarine Power and Marks and Spencer have both taken."
